Peter Henry taught high school math and science for several years at South Lake High School, and has spent the last two years as a substitute teacher.
“The schools of Seattle deserve RESPECT. I’m passionate about teaching, developing relationships with students, and working to create engaging lessons. I’m running for a leadership position because there’s a lack of connection between the current union leadership and the membership. Since contract negotiations, I’ve worked to reach out to fellow substitutes – union members and agency fee payers – to encourage greater involvement. As a building representative and a general member I have assisted colleagues in disputes involving evaluations. My colleagues have often felt dismissed by the union. This needs to change. Win or lose, I will work within the Substitute Association to support substitutes and increase our voice.”
